An interface for creating, deleting, and accessing objects. Because XOM is object-oriented, each object belongs to a particular class, and classes can be derived from other classes, inheriting the characteristics of the original class. The representation of the object is transparent to the programmer; the object can be manipulated only through the XOM interface.

(1) A value used to define the type of data sent for a distribution to a recipient. The message types supported on a system are defined when the mail server framework is configured. The value associated with the message type must be a unique type value.<br />(2) The logical structure of the data within a message. For example, the number and location of character strings.<br />(3) A number, up to 7 digits long, that identifies a message. SWIFT messages are identified by a 3-digit number; for example SWIFT message type MT S100.

(1) In the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), a read-only server that contains the same data as another server. Replicas are used to back up LDAP servers and to provide faster searches by splitting requests among the main server and replica servers.<br />(2) A server that contains a copy of the directory or directories of another server. Replicas back up servers in order to enhance performance or response times and to ensure data integrity.<br />(3) A special copy of a Notes database that, because it shares a replica ID with the original database, can exchange information with it through replication.<br />(4) An instance of a versioned object base (VOB) located at a particular site.

(1) In CICS Transaction Server, a predefined name by which a dump is known. There are two types of dump code, transaction dump codes and system dump codes, used in transaction dumps and system dumps, respectively. A dump code can be defined by CICS or the user and is used to select a set of system actions. These actions are held in either the system or transaction dump table. See also system dump code, system dump table, transaction dump code, transaction dump table.<br />(2) In CICS/VSE, a predefined name by which a transaction dump is known.

(1) In the operating systems for personal computers, the directory on a disc or diskette that contains the list of files stored on that disc or diskette. If more than one directory is on a disc or diskette, the root directory is at the top of the hierarchy of directories. The root directory is created by the operating system when the disc or diskette is formatted.<br />(2) The directory that contains all other directories in the system.
