In the OSI Communications Subsystem licenced program, a name by which an application entity identifies to OSI Communications Subsystem the peer application entity with which it is to communicate. OSI Communications Subsystem uses the symbolic destination name to determine (a) the presentation address of the peer application entity, and (b) the application mode to be used on the association.
