Mixed-release support

An approach to managing software delivery that makes it possible for IBM-supplied distribution media to deliver entire (or parts of) licenced programmes at existing releases with or without a new release of i5/OS. Existing licenced programmes that are enabled for mixed releases but that have no new function are not rebuilt. They are not renewed with a new release of the operating system. Similarly, optionally installable parts of licenced programmes that are enabled for mixed releases are not rebuilt or are not renewed with each new release of its base licenced program. Enabled licenced programmes that remain at earlier releases are compatible and function with the new release of the operating system.
