Character constant

(1) The actual character value (a symbol, quantity, or constant) in a source programme that is itself data, instead of reference to a field that contains the data. See also numeric constant.
(2) In the C language, a character or an escape sequence enclosed in quotation marks.
(3) A constant value whose data attribute is character.
