The methodology used to optimise tape usage in order to decrease the number of tape mounts and increase the amount of data on each tape. This optimization is accomplished by redirecting appropriate tape requests to disc and collecting the data in larger amounts on tape soon after the applications are completed. This methodology also reduces the time required to run the application.
