An environment that helps automate and centralise the management of storage. This goal is achieved through a combination of hardware, software, and policies. In the system-managed storage environment for z/OS, the function is provided by DFSMSdfp, DFSMShsm, DFSMSdss, DFSMSrmm, DFSORT, Security Server (RACF), and MVS. See also system-managed storage.
