Short wavelength (SWL)

A type of fibre optic cabling that is based on 850-mm lasers and supports 1.0625-Gbps link speeds. SWL can also refer to the type of gigabit interface converter (GBIC) or small form-factor pluggable (SFP). See also long wavelength.
