(1) An exact reproduction of all or part of a table space. DB2 for z/OS provides utility programmes to make full image copies (to copy the entire table space) or incremental image copies (to copy only those pages that were modified since the last image copy).
(2) A backup copy of a data set, used to restore the data set if necessary after a failure.
