In capacity planning, a value used as a general guide for optimal resource utilization. If resource utilisation is above the guideline value, the resource may be approaching a problem area or a threshold value. Guideline values are also available for the rate of synchronous reads in the machine pool and for the sum of all pools. See also threshold value.
