International Telecommunication Union (ITU)

A United Nations treaty agency whose mission is to ensure that all nations have access to telecommunication services. The ITU works closely with all standards organisations to form an international uniform standards system for communication. It comprises three branches: telecommunications standardization, telecommunications development, and radiocommunication. See also European Telecommunications Standards Institute.
