Produced by blending material of somewhat lower (12.6%) and slightly higher (13.2%) nitrogen content; converting to a dough with 2979 an alcohol-ether mixture; extruding; cutting; and drying to a hard, horny product. Small amounts of stabilizers (amines) and plasticizers are usually present, as well as various modifying agents (nitrotoluene and nitroglycerin salts).
