Scientists are carefully scrutinizing saponins, which exert a host of biological effects on humans, plants, and animals. The diversity of structures; the challenges of isolation; the pharmacological, biological, and agricultural activities already found and those still to be discovered; and the promise of commercialization are driving the study.
