multihull ships
Multihull ships consist of multiple hulls performing essentially the same flotation function as that of a conventional single-hull ship (monohull). The most familiar, and the oldest example, of a multihull vessel is a Pacific islander outrigger canoe (or proa). When compared to a conventional western monohull canoe, the additional hull or hulls on the outrigger primarily provides additional stability in ocean waves.
