1. A reentry vehicle capable of performing preplanned flight maneuvers during the reentry phase. The reentry vehicles deploy fins or other aerodynamic surfaces when they enter the atmosphere, allowing them to turn and dodge rather than fall ballistically. They have no ability to maneuver in space.
