hyperplasia
1) Abnormal multiplication of otherwise normal cells, leading to tissue enlargement.
2) An increase in the number of cells in a tissue or organ without tumor formation. It differs from hypertrophy, which is an increase in bulk without an increase in the number of cells.
3) An abnormal increase in the number of cells in an organ or tissue.
