A sequence of calibration steps performed by the controller on a specific motion axis that will determine the zero reference position of the axis by moving the axis and monitoring specific feedback devices. The electro-mechanical system, together with the control system, is designed to always find the same reference position. Homing is required only when the system is powered up or after service to that specific axis.
