cyanocarbon
A derivative of hydrocarbon in which all of the hydrogen atoms are replaced by the –C≡N group. Only two cyanocarbons, dicyanoacetylene and dicyanobutadiyne, were known before 1958. Since then, tetracyanomethane, hexacyanoethane, tetracyanoethylene, hexacyanobutadiene, and hexacyanobenzene were synthesized.
