• Arranges schedules of classes and assigns teaching staff to conduct classes.
• Prepares lists of budgetary and other needs.
• Interviews applicants for teaching positions.
• Performs other administrative duties in addition to teaching assignment.
• May administer department's budget and recruit academic personnel.
• May head department in two-year college and be designated Department Head, Junior College.
