This refers to mechanisms and systems designed for the comprehensive assistance and transnational support of victims of trafficking. Transnational referral mechanisms link the full process of referral from initial identification, through return and assistance between countries of transit, destination and origin and involve co-operation between different government institutions and non-governmental actors. This may involve one or all of the steps in the process.
