CMS (cytoplasmic male sterile) line
A line whose anthers produce no pollen or only abortive pollens. A genetic factor which induces sterility is present in its cytoplasm. No seed is set on this line by selfing. But its pistil is normal and can produce seeds when pollinated by a restorer or maintainer line.
