Workers who are engaged, under direct supervision, in learning a job or trade that may require up to several months of continuous on-the-job training, with or without related schooling in vocational subjects, before the worker may be considered fully qualified to perform the job. Such workers should be treated as entry applicants except that, if they have completed their training requirements, they should be classified according to the job learned.

Workers who are learning a trade through apprenticeship training should be classified in accordance with the procedure set forth under apprentice master title.
