Company Profile:
Sometimes referred to as “Big Blue” IBM is a multinational corporation headquartered in Armonk, New York. It manufactures computer hardware and software and provides information technology and services.
An interface for modifying the values of a business rule in the rule logic selection record.
Industry:Software
An interface for running QMF commands. The QMF commands can only be issued from within an active QMF session. See also callable interface.
Industry:Software
(1) A view-only scalable partition.
(2) In CICS/VSE, a partition, defined at IPL time and occupying a defined amount of virtual storage that remains constant. See also dynamic partition.
Industry:Software
(1) In CICS, an option whereby trace entries are written to an internal control region table. The table, which can be specified to wrap when full, is most appropriate if the user does not need to capture a large number of trace entries.
(2) A CICS trace facility that is present in virtual storage. When CICS detects an exception condition, an entry always goes to the internal trace table, even if you have turned tracing off.
Industry:Software
(1) In the Reusable Asset Specification (RAS), a location in an asset that may be altered, customized, modified, or supplied by an asset consumer. An extension point can define the assets variability at design time, code time, and run-time.
(2) In Eclipse, the specification that defines what attributes and values must be declared by an extension. See also extension.
Industry:Software
(1) A virtual circuit that is requested by a virtual call. It is released when the virtual circuit is cleared.
(2) In OSI, a temporary association between two DTEs that is initiated when one DTE makes a call request to the network.
Industry:Software
(1) In CICS/VSE, a range of up to two gigabytes of contiguous virtual storage addresses that a programme can use as workspace. Although the virtual disc exists in storage, it appears as a real FBA disc device to the user program. All I/O operations directed to a virtual disc are intercepted and the data to be written to, or read from, the disc is moved to or from a data space. Like a data space, a virtual disc can hold only user data; it does not contain shared areas, system data or programs. Unlike an address space or a data space, data is not directly addressable on a virtual disk. To manipulate data on a virtual disk, the programme has to perform I/O operations.
(2) A device that host systems attached to the storage area network (SAN) recognise as a Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) disk.
Industry:Software
(1) In the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), the public key and associated distinguished name of a certificate authority (CA).
(2) A certificate authority's certificate merged into the Domino Directory, client's browser, or the server's key ring file, which allows clients and servers to communicate with any client or server that has that certificate authority's certificate marked as trusted.
Industry:Software
(1) A virtual private network (VPN) connexion that automatically refreshes the keys that keep data secure. A dynamic connexion also contains proposals that allow the key server to negotiate which parameters to use with the remote key server. See also manual connection.
(2) A connexion created at the time of sign-on or using the network connexion control (NCC) record sent from another node.
Industry:Software
(1) In CICS/VSE, a subdivision of the virtual address area available to the user for the allocation of private, nonshared partitions.
(2) In virtual storage systems, the virtual storage assigned to a job, terminal user, or system task. See also address space.
